When the pain loses the controle to manipulate you.

Being able to watch any kind of pain without being affected: 

The moment you see it, the pain does not disturb you anymore and the body is the easiest step you can start from. 
If it's a headache, just take your awareness to the part where the pain is, find the spot where it's strongest. 

You would only be able to do it, if you decide to accept the pain totally and stop fighting with it mentally. As soon as you get closer to the spot where the pain is strongest, you may feel it getting more disturbing and strong, but then suddenly, when you realize that the pain is going on and you are able to watch it, like an observer watching the traffic from the skies, the pain stops disturbing you mentally. The reaction ceases to be, and there is a harmony. And the more you keep on watching the more joyful it becomes, and a peaceful smile comes to your face. 

It may seem stupid or dumb in the beginning but you would only be able to understand the feeling when you do it, and you feel so powerful after it, when the pain is no more able to break you! It can go on in the body but with practice you become a master of the pain rather being controlled by it. There is nothing wrong to give it a try atleast. 

This is what being mindful is, or being truly aware is.
